Here’s a new video, filmed in Ojai, California by artist and photographer Tracy Jean Shields. I met Tracy at Tennyson’s House on the Isle of Wight ten years ago, where she lived in a railway carriage. I stayed with her in her mobile home while touring in the US. She asked me to wear one of her vintage dresses for the opening of her new boutique called ‘Pearl Paris.’ I couldn’t believe it when she asked me to jump in the pool wearing it. She said ‘don’t worry, ‘silk is like iron!’ so I took the plunge. Ancelle, her young daughter filmed some of it underwater and is featured at the end, looking out to the ocean. The video inspired me to write and record the song ‘Shallow Waters’ with Christina Nichols from Maryland, in Ocean Way Studios, Nashville the following year. So in this instance the video came before the song. Further filming was done and edited by Elinor Bengry and Carl Walker at Wild Edric Media, Ludlow. Thanks to all who pooled together to make it.
