Hello folks. Here’s a song I wrote on VE Day, listening to lockdown celebrations in full swing from my living room window. Earlier in the day I sat in a bluebell wood, and read the paper. The Archbish of Canterbury talked about it being a day of forgiveness and reconciliation, as well as celebration; and it made me think of the paradox of Liberation Day and war still raging in some parts of the world. The song then grew into a reflection on the current pandemic and the ‘heroes of our time’ which is its temporary title. It’s in the tuning of DGDGBD for any guitarists who are interested. I’m excited to develop this song beyond the remit of my makeshift studio.
